The very first D&D campaign setting I encountered was the Forgotten Realms, starting with the 2nd edition and then the 3rd edition. During this time, gods played major roles in the setting, and the Wall of the Faithless was a significant element in my understanding of this universe. This is why, in “Feybound,” the Wall of the Faithless is depicted based on its portrayal in these editions. This depiction reflects a time when the lore emphasized strict divine retribution and the harsh consequences of denying the gods. Over time, D&D’s perspective on the Wall has evolved, mirroring broader cultural shifts towards more nuanced and compassionate views on faith and morality. Recent editions highlight opportunities for redemption and a balanced view of divine justice, reflecting modern values of personal belief and ethical complexity.
