Preface

Several years ago, one of my dear friends passed away from a brain tumor, leaving behind her daughter. Just before she passed into the shadows, she read the first draft of this novel and told me that I must finish it. This novel is dedicated to her.

For me, this novel is an exploration of inner dialogue and the nuances of life within their own context. In life, things are rarely clearly defined, and we often encounter a multitude of elements interacting with each other. Each person’s individual context and their interpretation of truth further complicate this understanding.

Love also plays a central role in this story. Love is experienced differently by each couple, and its continuous and significant interaction, which constantly evolves and changes between two people, is a subject that gains complexity. This introduces numerous intricate aspects to a story between two individuals, mirroring the real complexities of romantic relationships.

The characters in this novel are inspired by various sources. Elara is heavily inspired by Erana from the Quest for Glory series, which is my favorite video game series. The fourth game, “Shadow of Darkness,” is an absolute masterpiece, and you will find related themes in this novel. Cecil, on the other hand, is inspired by my personal heroes: Bear Grylls, Wim Hof, and David Goggins, all of whom have deeply influenced my life. Their impact led me to an in-depth study of the health benefits of physical activity, which has significantly transformed my life. The relationship between Elara and Cecil is partly inspired by my twelve-year relationship with my incredible wife.

Additionally, I want to mention that this novel is born from my passion for the world of Dungeons & Dragons and my desire to share it with you.
